The colonial fascist Turkish state continuing its air raids against the PKK forces in South Kurdistan since December 16, 2007, started with land attacks on the evening of February 21. After the intense diplomacy traffic between Turkey, USA, Great Britain and Israel and the heavy preparations that lasted for days it invaded South Kurdistan crossing the Iraqi border together with 10.000 soldiers.
While bombs were hailed for weeks on the mountains in South Kurdistan, civil targets, hospitals, schools and villages were also targeted. The colonial fascist dictatorship, that did not achieve any results from the air raids, increased its preparations to realise its land attacks which are its actual target. Before the operation that was carried out right after the meeting of the MGK (National Security Council) on February 21, a large number of soldiers were massed on the 400-km-long border between Iraq and Turkey and by that, a sign was given for the land operation.
In a statement made by the People`s Defense Forces ( HPG ) on February 22, it was said that the attacks on land have been started, that army forces have entered the areas Ciya Res, Zagros, Behdinan and Zap regions in South Kurdistan and that 22 soldiers were killed in first clashes. The people of South Kurdistan also stood up to resist against the operation. In the region of Zap, the people laid down in front of tanks to make them stop.
Turkish colonialism, that finally managed to get the permission to invade South Kurdistan for a short time with land operations in return for intensifing its complicity of the occupying policies of the USA in Iraq and Afganistan, received a supporting statement immediately by the USA after the operation. In the statement of the USA made from the headquarters in Iraq it said that "it knows about the operation started by Turkey in South Kurdistan and that it will cotinue to support the activities of Ankara carried out against the PKK". With the words "The EU understood that it must safe its the citizens of Turkey from attacks" the EU approved the operation and did not hesitate to warn not to injure civilians as if it cares a lot.
The operation in South Kurdistan has been on the agenda of the colonial state for about one year, but as its imperialist master USA did not give its permission for the operation, this aim could not be realised until now. The Turkish army that has started with air raids on December 16, 2007 has not achieved any results from these attacks and tries to save its annihilation and denial policy with land attacks. Among the aims of the Turkish state on South Kurdistan there is not only the PKK but also the aims of hindering the formation of a Kurdish state in South Kurdistan and the expansion towards Mosul and Kirkuk.

While the colonial fascist Turkish state on the one hand continues with its military operations in Northern and Southern Kurdistan, it oppresses the Kurdish people and its democratic organisations and press, its deputies and mayors elected on the other hand. Arrests, detentios, executions on the streets and attacks to ban the DTP have been increased. While with these steps colonial fascism tries to break the Kurdish people`s will, the Kurdish people once more declared that they will not give up and bow in front of annihilation and denial. Recently the Kurdish people marched towards Kato mountains to defend the guerrilla against the military operations.

The Turkish state that had invaded South Kurdistan before and realised different operations against the PKK forces, always went home without receiving the results it planned from these attacks. The operations now will also be fought off with the legitimised resistance of the Kurdish people and the solidarity actions of the world people and working classes. The annihilation and denial attacks of the Turkish state are convicted to defeat towards the Kurdish national resistance. This operations will not manage to safe colonialism from experiencing a defeat.

MLCP calls on all progressive, revolutionary and communist forces to stand up actively against the colonial Turkish army`s attacks on the Kurdish people and the occupation in South Kurdistan and to support the Kurdish people.

Let us support the Kurdish national resistance against colonial fascism by organising protest actions in front of Turkish consolates, different actions and demonstrations protesting the Turkish state and show solidarity with the Kurdish people!
